Heartquake Launch – 7th June 2016
The Heartquake project was officially launched on 7th June 2016 at Bishal Milan Kendra Community Centre in Chandol, Kathmandu. The celebration was attended by almost 200 members of the Mitrataa family including students, family members, school representatives, and our special guests 6 members from Wiley in Singapore.
The program was introduced by a short drama acted by Rebina, Sharmila, Rajesh and Gokul who shared their memories of the quakes. They then introduced the Heartquake Project Leader, Sabitri, who gave some background to the project including mention of the key supporters of the project – Libby Hathorn, the Australian Ambassador in Nepal, the Nepali Ambassador in Australia, Wiley’s design and website team and everyone who has contributed to the site.
Dikshya read the poem she had written which appears on the website, Sujana read a letter of support from the Australian Ambassador in Nepal and then Bec & Mike from Wiley officially launched the project.
Then lots of singing, dancing, skits, laughs and fun followed.
Huge thanks to the Mitrataa team who all worked incredibly hard to organise the event, to our wonderful MCs, Sarita and Asika, to all the performers and to Wiley for attending and making it so much fun.
