When the earthquake occurred on 25th April 2015, in the morning of that day I was trying to clean up the tank and was shouting to the other girls to help me to clean the tank. Nobody came to help me so I also left to clean the tank. After that I was playing with our dog named “Punti”. When I was playing with Punti the ground frequently started to move here and there. I was scared a little bit and Punti also began to bark. I thought it was an earthquake. Then we both ran out of the main gate. All the girls were crying and shouting in their rooms. Some were running to save themselves. Some were crying out loud remembering their mothers. All the neighbors were running from their houses to an open place. When the shaking stopped we tried to call the other members of Mitrataa but due to the network error, the calls were disconnected.
After half an hour Rohan came and we talked about the other members of Mitrataa family. We went to the basketball ground in the vegetable market and stayed there for an hour. Bec and the other girls came after sometime and we were happy to see them safe and fine. Many houses were damaged and many lost their lives.
One thing that I will never forget is that the land was shaking enormously from time to time. We slept outside where we can be safe. But suddenly it started raining and it was impossible for us to sleep outside. In one of the place people were sitting inside the tent and we joined them too. But the water came inside the tent and we were busy throwing the water out of the tent. We made some beds for the girls and small children. All of them were feeling sleepy. Bec, Rohan, Simon and I (Ramraj) stayed up the whole night. At midnight, Sujina, one of the children of Mitrataa family, started to cry. All the members were disturbed so I took her outside the tent, holding her to my chest. I tried to stop her from crying but she didn’t. I carried her for three hours and then she stopped crying. I took her inside and placed her on the bed. She slept quietly.
