It has almost been more than 30 days but we are still having minor aftershocks. This devastating earthquake has affected the life of almost all the Nepalese people. There is still fear and sadness but people are trying to move on because it’s the only thing they can do.

Nothing remains constant and we need to remind our self that moving on with each broken pieces is the only way. There were kids who were worried about their future and the family. They were in trauma and someone needs to be there to remove those fears because if the fears keep on growing up then the heart itself will stop working. So, to remove the fear of the students, the Mitrataa team engaged them in some curricular activities and made them to study. And because all the schools were closed, we counseled the students at Riviera school so that the fears will fade away from their mind and heart. We organized counseling class at Riviera because it was the safe place for the students. Everything was going normally but then the next aftershock took place and made our effort worthless because the fear began again and the kids started crying. And the next thing Riviera school didn’t let us to make the students study there because they were afraid another aftershock may take place. Keeping faith in myself and my team, we searched safe place for our student’s safety. Our faith was worth it when we found safe Lumbini School for our student’s to continue the study. We continued the classes until the school reopened.

All the students were back to their normal life. We even went to Tudikhel to counsel the victims. They were scared and feeling down. I was feeling the same too but keeping the head and soul high we tried our best to bring back the faded smile on their faces. Our team has helped the victims by providing scholarships to the deserving students along with school and house constructions. Many children lost their belongings and family as well. Some of them might still be in trauma. We feel sorry to those with whom we couldn’t reach. But they need to stay strong and move forward.

At last, I would like to Thanks Bec for her outstanding support for the victims and the team. And I am grateful for my team and their hard work as well.
