It has almost been one month after the great hit on 25th April, the day that will always pinch us like a thorn when we remember. People are still scared and life has been tougher than enough but they have learnt that instead of grieving over the past, one should stay alert and focus on rebuilding their life and the devastated nation.

Life has changed and our feelings have changed too. Many have lost their parents and they are the ones who are still very scared because the shaking might stop one day and the sun may rise again, but what happens to them? Either they spend their lives on the street or they get a sponsor. The government has failed to provide necessary materials for the devastated villages and the people. The weather is still making us aware that the biggest hit might come again and many of us have to die soon. 50% of people’s lives have begun to go back to normal but there are still people who need love and support. We get love, care and support from Bec and we feel glad and lucky but when thinking about those innocent eyes that lost everything, it tears our hearts into pieces.

Bec has been helping us a lot and encouraging us to stay alert. She is scared and very sad but this is life and no one can change the past. We are the lucky ones to be a part of her life. She has been helping almost everyone by providing food and shelter to live. There are people out there who need love and support and Bec has always been there for them. We still feel the small hits and the main thing is that the land doesn’t stop shaking like it is drunk. The weather is always cold and stormy. Even in the summer, the days will become dark soon. Because of this weather, people are scared that there might be another hit again. We can encourage them by giving love and support but the pain inside their hearts is bigger and very painful. They need helping hands and a warm heart to keep them warm and safe.

On the other hand, people have started to rebuild their houses and the devastated nation. Though the schools are all damaged, the teachers have started making classes inside tents and on the open ground to provide education for the students. They are scared but we can’t always hide. We need to be strong and take part in the rebuilding process. It may take time but we believe that we will rise again.

One thing I have learnt after I met Bec is that no matter how deep and painful the wounds inside our hearts are, if there is someone who holds your hand and gives you warm hug, those wounds will heal very soon. All that we need is someone to hold our hand. And those who give us the warmest hug, they are worth it in our life. There are many people, especially small children who need those helping hands.

This is why I’m still scared even though life has started to go back to normal.
